Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC (KenGen) is East Africa's leading electric power generation company and Kenya's largest producer of electricity. KenGen generates power from a diversified mix of geothermal, hydroelectric, thermal and wind sources, selling substantially all of its output to Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) under long-term power purchase agreements. Listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange and majority government-owned, KenGen reports electricity generation as its sole reportable operating segment under IFRS 8, with all plants based and operated within Kenya.
